General Info: Beings are the most common race on Furrae. They are the least magical, having no innate abilities to protect themselves unlike most of the other races.
Most Beings are able to cast spells, and while the initial impression is that Beings
are the helpless playthings or prey of the more powerful Creature races, things are not that cut-and-dried.
While there are many cities where Creatures and Beings are happy to coexist,
there also are numerous anti-Creature factions among Beings, ranging from overzealous adventurers seeking to protect their kind through to cults and vigilantes dedicated to
making Creatures pay for their injustices, real or perceived.
A surprise attack by a mob or ranged weapons can fell most Creatures before
they even realise they're being attacked, and the recent technological advances
have put Beings somewhat ahead of Creatures. A fragile peace is kept for
the most part.
Traditionally Beings have lived short lifespans in the 90 year range.
Following what is referred to as 'The Destania Incident' some 150 years earlier,
many Beings appear to have survived beyond their normal span, though the mechanism
behind this and the maximal lifespan they can now expect to live are both unclear.
